Who We Are
The black sheep of witchcraft are not the avid occultists, the goths and rebels, or the intersectional activists. It’s us — the conservatives, the traditionalists clinging to faith-based, folk-hearted, homeland-loving spiritualism.
We don’t quite fit in with neopagans or Wiccans anymore. If we speak openly about marrying old-school faith to fearless new-age witchery, our values get mocked or dismissed as propaganda. And if we dare tie love of country into that bouquet of “misfitting traits”? Expect ridicule.
But our path is no less real. Our message is simple: you are not alone.
Why This Blog Exists
Modern yet traditional witchcraft calls to us because we are keepers of heritage, fascinated with the old and in awe of the renewing wonder each day offers. Many of us don’t trace our craft to a single lineage or religion. We piece together the fragments of faith, folkways, and daily devotion into something that feels like home.
Land, Love, & Liberty is my heart-center in blog form. It’s built on three pillars:
Land — nature, cycles & seasons, ecology, folklore, and heritage of this place we call our homeland.
Love — family, hearth craft, pets, marriage, creativity, and the small devotions that shape daily life.
Liberty — community, tradition, patriotism, holidays, and the values of faith, family, and freedom.
This is a space for the faith-rooted witch, the tradition-keeper, and the humble patriot. A place where spiritual practice meets devotion to heritage, where belief is woven into daily life, and where those of us called “black sheep” can finally find belonging.
My Journey Here
I’ve walked the dark paths of self-destruction and the muddied trails of religious deconstruction. I’ve explored the shadowed occult, sifted grains of truth from neopaganism and Wicca, and survived a fundamentalist Baptist cult.
I’ve also worked almost a decade in nursing, caring for patients battling addiction while recovering from my own. I was born in New York City, the melting pot, and am building a soft life in the rural south. I have been the angry prodigal and the serene worshipper. I’ve seen darkness and light, and I’ve chosen to live in balance with both.
Today, I stand on hallowed ground — rooted in grace, enduring with grit. My beliefs are eclectic but clear:
I believe in the divinity of the land and its folklore.
I believe in a Higher Power, and I believe Jesus is who He said He was.
I keep a Bible, a book of shadows & a grimoire, plus a growing library full of fantasy, romance, mythology, paganism, and piles on piles of cookbooks.
I believe in presence, persistence, curiosity, and charm.
Above all, I believe in love — of Spirit, family, kin, community, and country.
An Invitation
If you are weary of being told to choose between faith and magic, patriotism and spirituality, tradition and curiosity — this place is for you.
If you long for something older, more rooted, and more expansive in your spiritual journey — I hope you stay.
If you feel the hum of the land beneath your feet — I hope you stay.
If you swell with pride at the values and freedoms of your homeland — stay.
If you crave balance instead of chaos, reverence instead of rebellion — stay.
It’s okay to love God — or more than one.
It’s okay to pray with your hands in the soil.
It’s okay to sing hymns and burn herbs in the same breath.
It’s okay to be conservative, traditional, faithful, and still live a life enchanted.
This is Land, Love, & Liberty. Welcome home.
