๐Ÿ‚ October Witchcraft: Thresholds, Samhain, and the Magic of the Hunter’s Moon

October is a month unlike any other in the witch’s year. The air cools, the leaves flare and fall, and the land itself seems to whisper that endings and beginnings are never truly separate. This is the season of thresholds: between harvest and winter, light and shadow, life and death. For witches, October carries the weight of deep mystery and the glow of devotion.

It’s no wonder that this month is one of the most spiritually charged of the year. The Hunter’s Moon in Aries on October 7 calls us to release what binds and stand boldly in our truth. Later, the Micro New Moon in Scorpio on October 21 draws us inward, into shadow work, ancestral communion, and the planting of hidden seeds for transformation. And of course, October closes with Samhain on the 31st, the witch’s new year, when the veil is thinnest and the beloved dead walk close beside us.

October’s Magic in Practice

This is a season when the witch is called not only to reflect, but also to act with intention.

  • For the Land: Gather acorns, leaves, or soil as talismans of release and renewal. Walk your borders at dusk, listening for whispers in the thinning veil.

  • For Love: Build an ancestor altar, light candles for beloved dead, or set an extra place at the table during a meal of remembrance.

  • For Spirit: Journal your authentic path. Write down a seasonal creed. Or try a guided meditation to journey into your own heart-center, where ancestral wisdom may appear as symbols or visions.

These small rituals root us into the cycles of October, weaving daily life with the sacred.

Inside My October Witch Planner & Grimoire Pages

To help bring all of this into focus, I created an 11-page printable witch planner for October 2025 — a blend of grimoire, lunar almanac, and seasonal planner.

Inside the Ultimate Witch Planner for October 2025, you’ll find:

  • A month overview with folklore, correspondences, and magical themes

  • A lunar calendar with sabbats, esbats, and spells marked

  • Astrology & Lunastronomy pages guiding you through the Hunter’s Moon and New Moon in Scorpio

  • October correspondences for plants, trees, crystals, animals, deities, and spirits

  • A Spirit Flight Meditation designed to guide you inward for ancestor communion and year-ahead insight

  • Plus bonus weekly and daily planner pages (dated October 1–31) for weaving magic into everyday life

I designed this planner to be both a practical tool and a sacred companion — something you can slip into your Book of Shadows or binder and return to year after year.

Reflection for the Witch’s New Year

As October carries us toward Samhain, I like to remember that the world is not fading, but transforming. What seems like decline is in truth a renewal: leaves returning to soil, seeds waiting in the dark, ancestors watching with love. In this season, the witch herself becomes the flame-keeper — the candle, the hearth, the steady warmth that carries summer’s light into the long nights ahead.

If you’d like to walk into October with a guide at your side, you can find my Ultimate Witch Planner: October 2025 in my Etsy shop, Land Love & Liberty. It’s my offering for this season of thresholds — a way to tend your craft, honor your ancestors, and weave daily life with the turning of the wheel.
